Emily Thomas, 2006 Level 8 Regional Championship Qualifier


Gymnastic compulsory teams compete in Elmira

Bright Raven gymnast Emily Thomas, 10, of North Chili has qualified to compete in Level 8 Regional Championships by earning a high all around score of (36.575) at the State Championships in Rochester. Thomas finished 10th on balance beam (9.25) and 11th all-around.

The Bright Raven Gymnastics compulsory teams traveled to Elmira to compete in the 2006 Spring Spectacular hosted by Elmira Gymnastics Club bringing home three team banners and many individual awards.

The Level 5 Team took first place with Bright Raven gymnasts taking the top places in all three age divisions. In the Senior Division, Rhiann Korth, of Avon, took first all around (37.275), first on vault (9.10), first on beam (9.70), second on bars (9.275) and second on floor exercise (9.20). Hailey Clark, of Henrietta, finished second all around (36.85) and took first place in floor exercise (9.40), second on beam (9.60) and third on vault (8.90). Holly Garbacz, of Chili, was third all around (36.30) and took first on bars (9.30). Amber Rice, of Brockport, placed second on vault (8.95) and third on bars (9.025). In the Intermediate Division, Nicole Bell, of Chili, won first all around (36.40), first on bars (9.025), second on vault (9.00) and third on beam (9.30). Lauren Ciranni, of Gates, took second all around (36.375) and was first on vault (9.20), first on floor (9.475) and third on bars (8.825). Haley Cunningham, of LeRoy, was first on beam (9.825) and second on floor (9.45). Carly King, of Churchville, placed third on vault (8.75). Danielle Adam, of Greece, was second on beam (9.625). In the Junior division, Megan Stevens, of Brockport, was first all around (36.575), first on bars (9.075), first on beam (9.65) and first on floor (9.65). Amanda Lee, of Henrietta, placed third on bars (8.90). Melissa Rombola, of Spencerport, placed third on floor (9.30). Carly Kreitzberg, of Irondequoit, Laura Manciocchi, Megan Saraceni and Rachel Shire, of Chili, also contributed to the Level 5 team effort.

The Level 6 team took second place. Competing in the Junior Division, Kristina Nupp, of Churchville, earned first all around (36.65), first on vault (9.15), first on floor (9.30) and third on beam (9.675). Helen Zickl, of Batavia, and Emily Arnold, of Gates also contributed to the team effort with strong all around performance scoring 35.05 and 34.525, respectively.

The Level 4 team also took second place. In the Senior Division Nikole VanWie, of Brockport, earned first place all around (37.675), first on floor (9.60), first on bars (9.60) and third on vault (9.45). Sarah Daniels, of Churchville, took third all around (37.45), first on vault (9.70), third on beam (9.25) and third on floor (9.40). Emily Hopkins was second on beam (9.45). In the Intermediate Division, Olivia Weber, of Hilton, earned first place on vault (9.40), second place on beam (9.20), third on floor (9.20) and third all around (36.95). In the Junior Division, Karina Kyle, of Brockport, won first all around (36.675), and second on beam (9.35).

Megan Boyce, of LeRoy, was second all around (36.475), second on bars (9.20) and third on floor (8.825). Gabriella Garcea, of Churchville, was second on vault (9.60), second on floor (9.00) and third on beam (9.325). Alison Steinmetz, of Greece, took first place on vault (9.65) and third on bars (9.20). In th Youth Division, Allison Prem, of Greece, took first on vault (9.40) and Emily Wade, of Gates, was third on floor (9.00). Other gymnasts contributing to the Level 4 team effort included Maddie Plucknette of Churchville, Alicia Wardell of LeRoy, Julia Shire, of Chili, Ariel Johnsen and Megan Gruver of Greece.
