Hometown Community Directory and Super Saver delivered this week
2006 Directory celebrates
10th anniversary with record sales

Included with this week’s issues of the Suburban News and The Herald are two special publications prepared by the staff of Westside News Inc. -- the tenth edition of the Hometown Community Directory and the Spring Edition of the Westside Super Saver.

First published in 1997 as the Hometown Business Directory, the Directory was renamed last year to more accurately reflect its community role. The Directory has always been an important annual resource for both local businesses and the readers in the Westside News distribution area. “We have saved our advertisers lots of money over the ten years that we have been publishing the Directory,” Publisher Keith Ryan said. “It’s a tremendous resource for our readers, offering local maps, local school and government contact information as well as information on our local businesses. People love it!” Ryan said. “Plus, this year, we established a new record for sales.”

New or redesigned promotional packages were introduced this year to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Directory. Westside News will also be offering those same incentives for next year, but for those who did not take advantage of the promotions for this year, it’s not necessary to wait until next year to get on board. All that is necessary is for the businesses to ask their account representative for the details or they can call Keith Ryan at 352-3411 ext. 125 and he will be happy to provide the details.

“A tremendous amount of effort is put into the production of all our publications, but that’s especially so for our Directory,” Ryan said. “The state association, Free Community Papers of New York, has recognized the Directory during their annual awards meeting. Judges have described it as having ‘extremely comprehensive content covering a wide category of information. Well organized (and) stays with you throughout the year.’ ”

Again this year, to promote the use of the Directory, Westside News will be printing four questions each week in the Suburban News and Hamlin-Clarkson Herald as part of a year-long contest. The answers to the questions can only be found in the Hometown Community Directory. The culmination for the contest is the selection of a winner who receives a $600 credit from Bodine Unlimited Tours. The credit may be used towards any number of fun trips offered by Bodine. For examples see Bodine’s ad inside this week’s issue. The winner of this year’s contest is named inside this week’s newspapers. Along with the grand prize, readers have a chance at monthly prizes of $100, $50 and $25 gift certificates, to be chosen from the display advertisers inside the Directory.

From now through April 2007, use the 10th edition of the Directory delivered this week to answer the Escape Contest questions. Additional copies of the area’s most user friendly guide to local businesses are available at Westside News Inc. offices, 1835 North Union Street, Spencerport, and at various drop-off locations. “Please let our advertisers know that you saw their ad in the Directory -- that feedback is essential to helping our businesses understand the value of having their advertising message in the Directory each year,” Ryan said.

Westside Super Saver now part of the package
The Spring Edition of the Westside Super Saver can also be found inside this week’s issue of Suburban News and Hamlin-Clarkson Herald. First introduced in November 2003, the Westside Super Saver has become another effective way for businesses to promote themselves to the loyal readership of the Westside News publications.

Every ad on every page is in full color and takes full advantage of the skill of the Westside News production staff. “Our staff has won numerous awards from the Free Community Papers of New York association for its full-color ad work and we are confident that the Super Saver will be recognized in its own right as another first-class publication in the Westside News offerings,” Ryan said. Our next Super Saver will be delivered in June,” he said.

Therefore, in addition to the established, well-read, award winning free weekly newspapers, the communities served by Westside News Inc. will get extra bonuses this week with the insertion of the two “fresh off the presses” publications. “Westside News is poised to serve its vast readership and business communities now and well into the future,” Ryan said.
