Billotti two-hitter leads Cadets
Caileen Childs broke up a scoreless game with a two-out single to drive in the only run of the game and Lauren Billotti allowed just two hits as Hilton defeated Spencerport in girl's softball 1-0.
In the fifth inning, Billotti helped her own cause by getting on base and stealing second. Then, with two outs, Childs had her pop fly to short right center drop in for a hit scoring Billotti from second for the only offense of the game.
Spencerport had runners at second and third with nobody out in the third inning but couldn't push a run across. They also had a runners advance into scoring position in the fourth and sixth innings.
In the seventh, the Rangers' Allyssa Campbell led off with a walk, went to second on a wild pitch and advanced to third when a foul pop was caught but carried out of play by the fielder. After Kelly Schweikert walked, Campbell was caught in a brief rundown trying to steal home.
Tina Ruggeri allowed just four hits while striking out three in suffering the loss. Billotti allowed two hits with six strikeouts in the win, which improved Hilton's record to 3-4, 2-1.
