Saints fall to Barons in lacrosse
Brighton scored seven of the final eleven goals of the game and defeated Churchville-Chili in boy's lacrosse 12-8.
The Saints took a 3-2 lead in the opening quarter on goals by Jaime Englert, Gino Marcello and Cory Mee before the Barons scored three consecutive goals for a 5-3 lead in the second quarter. The second Saints goal came when Brian Briggs sent Marcello away on a breakaway.
Marcello scored off a loose ball and Ben Rossignolo followed for back-to-back goals just over one minute apart near the end of the first half to tie the game 5-5. The Barons scored once before the first half expired and held the Saints to just one goal by Marcello in the third quarter while scoring three times to build a 9-6 lead.
Rossigolo scored again for the Saints to close to within 9-7 early in the fourth quarter before Brighton pulled away.
Marcello finished with three goals and two assists to lead the Saints. Brighton's Colm David led all scorers with five goals. C-C fell to 4-3 with the loss while the Barons improved to 6-3.
