Holley jumpers raise
money for American Heart Association

The Annual Jump Rope for Heart, now in its 21st year, has raised nearly $200,000 for the American Heart Association's research and programs. This year, 150 jumpers raised $7,700.25 by gathering pledges, then jumping rope in teams. Forty-five parent, 23 staff and two high school volunteers helped out during the event.

The students who earned the most pledges were: Damien VanDerVen ($215); Jacob Thurley ($200); Bryanna Antram ($170); Samantha McElwain ($165) and Mikayla Smith ($160). The top team, which raised $445, included Sam DeFilipps, Rachel Oliver, Dan Spychalski, Courtney Strickland and Jacob Thurley. The top class was Tricia Clark's fifth grade class, who will receive a free physical education class with their choice of games.

Students who raised more than $150 were entered by the American Heart Association into a drawing for a trip to Disney World. They are: Antram, Marissa Callahan, Sarah Lusk, McElwain, Smith, Thurley and VanDerVen.
