Cole whiffs 15 for Eagles
Sophomore Jenny Cole registered 15 of 21 outs with strikeouts in pitching Kendall to a 1-0 girl's softball victory over Holley.
Kendall scored the only run of the game in the second inning. Carly Shaw reached first base on a dropped third strike, stole second and scored on Robin D'Agostino's two-out single to center.
The Eagles got a runner to third with one out in the sixth inning when Cole stroked a one-out double down the left field line and stole third, but was stranded.
"It's been tough since we don't have a modified program or a summer program, so it's hard to compete with some of the teams we face," said Kendall's first year head coach Shannon Amphlett. "We try to get them to play a bit in the summer, but some of these schools have established programs. It's tough, but the girls are doing their best."
Holley began the game with bunt singles by Melody MacDonald and Stacy Swabb, but those were the only two hits allowed by Cole as Kendall improved to 2-4.
Holley starting pitcher Erika Ayers allowed just two hits as well while striking out seven in suffering the loss.
