Experience "Art Ménage" in downtown Brockport
Four Brockport merchants will host art shows on June 2. At The Red Bird Tea Shoppe, 25 Main Street, works of art by local watercolorist Karlene VanDeusen will be displayed. Van Deusen works in acrylics, paints florals and local landscapes. Elizabeth VanDeusen, her daughter, will also have a piece in the show. Andrew Jurman currently displays his photographic landscapes at The Red Bird Tea Shoppe.
Start Here Studio, 2 Main Street, will feature works of art by four artists. Mary Beth Dolan, Kate Lipsky, Hiroko Battey and Joanne Benedict. Dolan, the owner of Start Here Studio, won an award for her art at the age of six. Since then she has continued her art career concentrating on Southwest Art that encompasses landscapes, flora and fauna as well as her series of "spirit masks." Lipsky created a women's art group which celebrates the extraordinary cultural and artistic leaders of the region and shares their creative processes. Battey paints in oil, watercolor, acrylic, mixed media as well as drawing in pen, ink and scratch art. Her subjects range from city, land and sea scapes as well as floral and still life. Benedict, a self-taught artist, has always been interested in art and it appealed to her at a very young age.
At Java Junction, the works of Adrian Tucker will be displayed. An accomplished local artist, Tucker has exhibited artwork in western New York as well as in North Carolina. His artwork has been at Java Junction for over ten years.
E.J. Medler's Frame Design Shop features the photographic works of Dick Evans. He captures barns, local landscapes and other nature photography in black and white and color.
"Art Ménage" galleries will be open from 7-10 p.m. and are free to the public.
