Gymnasts host event
Bright Raven Gymnastics of Gates played host to the Dare to Be Great Invitational May 6 and 7. More than 200 gymnasts represented eight teams.
The Level 5 team took first place (112.25) with Megan Stevens of Brockport taking first all around (37.825) in the 9 and under age division. Stevens was also first on vault (9.40), first on balance beam (9.475), first on floor (9.45) and second on the uneven bars (9.50). Jamie Gilbert of Chili took first all around (36.475) in the 12 and over age division. Gilbert was also first on vault (9.20) and second on floor (9.20). In the same age division, Kristina Schiffhauer of Greece placed third all around (36.40), second on vault (9.00) and third on balance beam (9.175). Haley Cunningham of LeRoy was first on beam (9.45). Lauren Ciranni of Gates took first on floor (9.275). Melissa Rombola of Spencerport placed second on beam (9.20), third on vault (9.00) and third on floor (9.20). Holly Garbacz of Chili was second on bars (9.35). Rhiann Korth of Avon placed third on bars (9.325). In the 10-year-old division, Rachel Shire of Chili took first place on vault (9.30) and second on floor (9.00). Amanda Lee of Henrietta was third on bars (9.40). In the 11-year-old division, Carly King of Churchville was second on vault (9.10).
Bright Raven's Level 4 team finished second (113.475) just behind Niagara Gymnastics (113.60). In the 11 and over age division, Sarah Daniels of Churchville took first all around (38.075), first on vault (9.75), first on floor (9.50), second on bars (9.55) and third on beam (9.275). Olivia Weber of Hilton placed third on vault (9.45) and third on floor (9.05). In the 8-year-old division, Alison Steinmetz of Greece won first all around (37.80), first on vault (9.70), first on bars (9.60), first on beam (9.325) and third on floor (9.175). Allison Prem of Greece took second on beam (9.15). In the 10-year-old division Ciara Reifenstein of Chili was third on vault (9.675). In the 9-year-old division, Gabriella Garcea of Churchville won first on vault (9.775). Megan Boyce of LeRoy placed second on bars (9.45) and third on beam (9.025).
Levels 6, 7 and 8 were combined to make one team where Bright Raven finished third (109.575) behind Southern Tier Gymnastic Academy (110.95) and Elmira Gymnastics (110.525). Competing as a Level 8 gymnast in the 12 and over age division, Rachel Eckert of Irondequoit took first place all around (35.15), first place on beam (9.15), first on floor (9.05), second on vault (8.50) and second on bars (8.45). In the 12-year-old Level 6 competition, Kristina Nupp of Churchville won first all around (36.925), first on floor (9.20), first on beam (9.60), and second on vault (9.15). Emily Arnold of Gates placed third on beam (9.375) and third on floor (9.10). In the 13 and over age division, Hailey Clark of Henrietta won first all around (35.875), first on floor (9.25), first on bars (9.275) and third on vault (9.00). In the 11-year-old age division, Helen Zickl of Batavia was second on floor (9.00) and third on beam (9.35).
