New housing development coming to Spencerport village
A new housing development located in the Village of Spencerport will soon be under construction. Beginning the first week of June, Clairol Development LLC will begin construction of 18 single family homes in Erie View Landing off of Evergreen Street next to the canal. Prices for these single family homes begin at $220,000. Lot sizes range from one-quarter acre to one-and-three-quarter acres and include wooded areas.
According to Denise Wegman, property management for Clairol, all lots will have full utilities available, water, storm and sewer lines as well as gas and electric. Prospective buyers have their choice of plans to pick from when selecting what type and style of home to build.
Final approval has been given by the Spencerport Village Planning Board. Wegman explained, "There will be deed restrictions in place to insure the quality of the subdivision is maintained." Six lots will also have canal access.
Dan Hogan of Crane-Hogan Structural Systems, Inc. and Chris Schrank are the developers of this project. Schrank is the former Ogden Police Chief. Wegman said, Hogan and Schrank purchased the land to "put a first-class housing development in the village and on the canal."
This subdivision is part of land originally owned by Maxine B. and Donald F. Davison, the owners of Ogden Telephone Company. Maxine Davison died in 2004. Following her death, this parcel of land as well as other property she owned in the area was put up for auction. The Davison home will remain as part of the subdivision and is for sale.
