Brockport CSD bus driver recognized

Joan Viscardi, school bus driver for 21 years with the Brockport Central School District, has been named BCSD's "Transportation Employee of the Year." Honorees from area school districts were recognized at a reception given by the Rochester Area Transportation Association to honor outstanding professional pupil transportation employees.

"Joan has an awesome safety record and shows a genuine concern for the special needs students that she transports," said Director of Transportation Joe LaMarca. "She has great work ethics and is well respected by all who come in contact with her."

Viscardi was nominated for the award by Brockport transportation staff. The award, given during Transportation Employee Recognition Week, which began May 19, honors transportation staff with good attendance, a friendly disposition, for readily accepting and exceeding responsibilities, and relating well with fellow workers, parents and children.

According to LaMarca, each year BCSD's safety record is one of the best in New York state.
