Spencerport teams qualify for scholar athlete award

Seven of the eight spring athletic teams at Spencerport Schools qualified for the NYSPHSAA Team Scholar Athlete Award during the Spring 2005-06 season. In order to qualify, a team must have a team grade point average of 90 percent or above. The teams that qualified, their grade point average and coach were:

•Girls Track and Field - 95.592 - Linda Pringle; Girls Lacrosse - 94.718 - Amy Nesbitt; Boys Tennis - 92.711 - John Gentile; Boys Track and Field - 91.067 - Jamie Schneider; Baseball - 70.764 - Craig Bodensteiner; Softball - 90.545 - Sarah Altobelli; Golf - 90.114 - Tom Etsler.

The student-athletes who qualified are:

•Girls Track and Field: Emily Heiler, Melanie Waldow, Carolyn Keenan, Michelle Burke, Kimberly Parkhurst, Nicole Dunshie, Maura McGuire, Allison Dietrick, Alyson Ellis, Rita Britz, Alyssa Placito, Sarah Templeton, Victoria Foos, Karina Spicer, Sarah Skelly, Cristy Cousin, Jennifer Garwol.

•Girls Lacrosse: Jennifer Smith, Lauren French, Sarah Sweeney, Nora Venezky, Stephanie Snyder, Jessica Lester, Kara Farnsworth, Kaitlin Skolny, Katelyn Anthony, Danielle DeStefano, Amanda Brooks, Heather Dorofy.

•Boys Tennis: Michael Goettelman, Charles Hura, David Daggett, Scott Elliott, Michael Gorevski, Joseph Persia, Daniel Dixon, John Stoffel, Robert Tucker.

•Boys Track and Field: Steven Burek, Andrew Cholewa, Ryan Bloom, Joshua Chaddock, Nicholas Lowe, David Pillittere, Graig Baxter, Charles Smith, Daniel Coco, Christopher Eppeira, David Stevens, Cody Saetta.

•Baseball: Matthew Sprague, Matthew Bartock, Nicholas Pucillo, Ryan Myers, Malcolm McGuire, Jason Mastrodonato, Douglas Potter, Gregory Kincaid, John DiMartino, Kyle Muir, Alex Mayer.

•Softball: Jennifer Marino, Kelsey Sharp, Ashley Tarasco, Christina Antonelli, Kelly Schweikert, Jessica Merrick, Lena Ann SanFilipo, Tracey Bunce, Rachel Taylor, Whitney Rodak, Tina Ruggeri.

For the 2005-06 school year, Spencerport has 18 of its 26 varsity teams qualify for this award.
