Gymnasts compete in USAG state championships

Bright Raven Gymnastics' Level 5 Team ended their season on a high note finishing ahead of all other upstate teams at the USA Gymnastics State Championships held in Westchester County June 2 through 4 with many of its team members earning individual honors.

Hailey Clark of Henrietta was named the all around State Champion scoring 36.875 in the 13-year-old Open Division and also took first place on the uneven parallel bars (9.525), first place in floor exercise (9.65) and sixth place on both vault (8.70) and balance beam (9.00). In the same division, teammate Jamie Gilbert of Chili was first on balance beam (9.275), fourth on vault (8.775), fourth on bars (9.25), sixth on floor exercise (9.20) and fifth all around (36.50). Laura Manciocchi of Chili took second place on floor (9.35), sixth on beam and sixth all around (35.45). Melissa Rombola of Spencerport earned fourth place on floor (9.25).

In the 12-year-old Rookie Division, Lauren Ciranni of Gates placed second in floor exercise (9.40). Kristina Schiffhauer of Greece took third on the uneven parallel bars (9.20) and Haley Cunningham of LeRoy took third on balance beam (9.10).

In the 12-year-old Veteran Division, Rhiann Korth of Avon placed third on floor (9.20) and Holly Garbacz of Chili was third on bars (9.00).

Nine-year-old Rookie, Megan Stevens of Brockport, placed sixth on both balance beam (9.30) and floor exercise (9.575).

As a team, Bright Raven finished in seventh place in the Large Team Division scoring 219.425. The teams finishing ahead of Bright Raven were all from down state: Kennett of Goshen (226.50), Dynamic of Mohegan Lake (226.30), Chelsea Piers of New York City (223.30), Phoenix of Old Bethpage (222.50), Gold Medal of Green Lawn (222.30) and Gym City of Cortlandt Manor (219.90).
