Joe Rittler, 24, has announced his candidacy for the Parma Town Council. Rittler, a lifelong resident of Parma, will receive an A.S. in political science this December from Monroe Community College. He has been active in the community, volunteering at the Center for Disability Rights and the Monroe County Democratic Committee, where he worked to get young people active and informed about the political process. He is currently working in the Rochester office of Eliot Spitzer's campaign for Governor. "I look forward to an open, honest discussion about the issues concerning my fellow residents of Parma. This town is in desperate need of a board member who can communicate effectively with them. I believe I am that man," Rittler stated in a press release. Rittler said he feels strongly that the residents of Parma need an independent voice.
