Krystyna Staub was appointed vice president of Development and Community Relations at Lakeside Health System in Brockport.
Staub is responsible for overseeing the development, marketing, and community relations efforts, including direction of the Lakeside Foundation.
Staub has been with Lakeside for 12 years. She has served as capital campaign director for Lakeside's most recent capital campaign, raising funds to renovate the obstetrics and surgical departments.
Her volunteer efforts include serving on the BISCO Board of Directors and the Kiwanis Club of Brockport. Her professional affiliation includes membership in the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). Staub resides in Hamlin.
Alfred State College announced the following students from this year were among the students receiving degrees in the Class of 2006: Christopher Marshall of Bergen; Craig Brunette, Todd Ford, Thomas Heinsbergen, Jeffrey Johnson and Morgan Ziegler, all of Brockport; Michael Vogler of Churchville; Jeremy Devos of Hamlin; Lewis Snyder of Hilton; Lawrence McKenzie of Holley; Zachary Deruyter, Jason Kausch, Corey McLean and Theresa Muniz, all of Spencerport.
Colleen Larnder was named Lakeside Health System's Employee of the Month for July. She has been working at Lakeside since 1989, starting in Housekeeping and, in 2000, transferring to her current position as Buyer in the Materials Management Office. She resides in Holley.
Her nomination by her peers commended her for her helpfulness. "If asked questions about anything, she will follow up and return your call even if she can't answer you right away. When you are not sure on a purchase item and describe it, she knows what it is. She works extra when needed and has a positive attitude when training new employees. She not only does her best for Lakeside Health System, her duties extend to Oak Orchard and to various doctors'offices as well," stated Tom Felice, manager of Materials Management.
Michelle A. LeRoy graduated, magna cum laude, from Ithaca College with a bachelor's degree in clinical sociology on May 14. She has been accepted as a doctoral candidate in the Clinical Psychology program at Bowling Green State University, Ohio. She is the daughter of Rebecca and Steven LeRoy and a 2003 graduate of Hilton High School.
Connie Hibbard of Hilton won the gold metal in the women's singles tennis at the Empire State Senior Games for her age group of 60-64. She also ran the 5K and took the silver metal with a time of 24:07. She qualifies for the nationals to be held next summer in Louisville, Kentucky.
The State University of New York at New Paltz has named the following students to the dean's list for the spring 2006 semester: Stacey Lascala and Sarah Hopkins, both of Brockport; Justine Brechue of Hamlin and Amy Mintonye of Hilton.
Dean's list designation is preserved for students who excel academically and earn a 3.30 grade point average in a semester with a full-time course load.
Rachele Schmalfuss, daughter of Bill and Linda Schmalfuss and a graduate of Churchville-Chili High School, received a bachelor of science degree during commencement ceremonies at Messiah College. She was an athletic training major and will be pursuing further study in the fall.
Megan Baker, daughter of James and Stacey Baker of Kendall, has been named to the spring 2006 dean's list at St. John Fisher College in Rochester. Baker, a freshman, is a journalism and political science major, played soccer and was a staff writer for the "Cardinal Courier."
To be eligible for the dean's list at St. John Fisher College, a student must have attained at least a 3.5 grade-point average for the semester.
Kimberly Kristine Myers of Hilton has achieved the dean's list with honors with a GPA of 3.70 - 3.99 for spring of 2006. She is a 2002 graduate of Hilton High School and is the daughter of David and Birgit Myers.
Sara R. Tully of Rochester was named to the dean's list during the spring 2006 semester at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York. To be eligible for the dean's list a student must have completed at least four semester units and have an academic average of 3.6 (based on a perfect 4.0 scale) for the semester.
Tully graduated from Spencerport High School. She is majoring in psychology.
Marisa Roach of Spencerport, has been named to the president's list at Houghton College for the spring semester. To be eligible students must earn a perfect GPA of 4.0 and be carrying a full-time course load of at least 12 hours.
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute announced the names of students who made the Institute's dean's list for the spring 2006 semester. The dean's list recognizes full-time students who maintain grade-point averages of a minimum of 3.0 out of a possible 4.0 and have no grades below "C." From this area are: Andrew J. Air Force Airman Chad R. Smith has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Jeffrey Smith and Beth Smith, both of Hilton. Smith is a 2005 graduate of Hilton High School.
Andrea Lynn Izyk of Greece has successfully completed the United States Army Basic Combat Training. She graduated on June 16 from the Fort Jackson Army Base in Columbia, South Carolina. She will continue her training as a Civil Affairs Specialist at the Fort Bragg Army Base in Fayetteville, South Carolina.
Air Force Cadet John P. Ayers has graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Spring, Colorado. The graduate received a bachelor of science degree and was commissioned as a second lieutenant. The officer is scheduled to attend undergraduate pilot training at Columbus Air Force Base, Columbus, Mississippi.
Ayers received a degree in military history. He is the son of Steven and Patricia Ayers of Hilton and a 2002 graduate of Hilton High School.
