Diana Hemm, daughter of Walter and Mary Lou Hemm of Spencerport, was named to the dean's list for spring 2006 at SUNY Geneseo. She will start her junior year in the fall as a business administration major with a focus on marketing.


The United States Achievement Academy announced that Valerie Dimino of Hilton has been named a Collegiate All-American Scholar. The Collegiate All-American Scholars must earn a 3.3 or higher grade point average. Only scholars selected by a school official or other qualified sponsor are accepted. This award is an honor very few students attain. The Academy recognizes fewer than 10 percent of all college students.

Dimino, who attends SUNY Brockport, was nominated for this national award by Adam Standish, Director of Scholarships. She will appear in the Collegiate All-American Yearbook which is published nationally.

She is the daughter of Frank and Linda Dimino of Hilton.


Courtney Kwiatkowski, daughter of Bette and Mark Kwiatkowski of Chili, has been named to the spring 2006 dean's list at St. John Fisher College in Rochester. Kwiatkowski, a sophomore, is a psychology major.

To be eligible for the dean's list at St. John Fisher College, a student must have attained at least a 3.5 grade-point average for the semester.


Andre Langston and Charles Nesbitt are new members on the Brockport College Foundation Board.

Langston is President of Monroe County Broadcasting Co., Ltd., d.b.a. WDKX Radio. He was appointed to the Wilmot Cancer Center Board in 2005 and is also involved with the 2006 NYS Sports & Celebrity Gala, Green Acres Community Center, Rochester Razor Sharks, and Stop the Violence Basketball Tournament. He resides in Rochester with his wife, Wendy.

Nesbitt served as President and Commissioner of the Tax Appeals Tribunal in November 2005. He served as Minority Leader of the Assembly and he was an Assemblyman for 13 years, representing all of Orleans County, and parts of Genesee, Monroe and Niagara counties. He resides in Albion with his wife, Kim.

The Brockport College Foundation is an independent, self-supporting organization formed to help SUNY Brockport. It assists the college by accepting and encouraging gifts and by using such gifts to advance the college as a comprehensive arts and sciences institution.


Rochester area residents attending the University at Buffalo have been named to the dean's list for the spring 2006 semester for achieving a grade-point average of 3.6 or higher. From this area are:

Spencerport resident Sandra Czelusniak is participating in a 10 week college internship program at The Heritage Foundation, one of America's leading public policy think tanks.

Czelusniak, 21, daughter of John and Maureen Czelusniak, is working in Heritage's B. Kenneth Simon Center for American Studies.

A 2003 graduate of Spencerport High School, Czelusniak is a senior at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, where she majors in history.

She has served as the president of the Cornell Coalition for Life, secretary of the Cornell Republicans and a staff writer for the Cornell Review. She is also a member of the Cornell University Chorus, having served as the group's publicity manager during her junior year.


Clarkson University has awarded the prestigious Gleason Foundation sponsored Scholarship to Bradley Povelaites. He is the son of Margaret and Charles Povelaites of Rochester.

Povelaites will be a senior majoring in mechanical engineering at Clarkson University. This summer he has a summer internship at Central Hudson Gas & Electric Company in Poughkeepsie, New York.


Roberts Wesleyan College announced the following students were named to the dean's list for their academic performance last semester.

Kathryn Ciaccia, high honors, Churchville; Anna DuPre, highest honors, Brockport; Matthew Kennedy, honors, and Brette-Ashley Wilcox, high honors, Bergen; Stefanie Peter, high honors, Hilton; Caitlin Cassidy, high honors, Heather Cassidy, honors and Christopher Pels, highest honors, all of Spencerport.

Honors, grade point average ranging from 3.5 to 3.69; high honors, grade point average ranging from 3.7 to 3.89 and highest honors, grade point average ranging from 3.9 to 4.0.


SUNY Oswego has awarded merit scholarships to more than 600 incoming students, including $17,600 Presidential Scholarships to Erin C. Hyde of Hilton, Stephanie L. Magin of Spencerport and Kelly N. Schooping of Hamlin.


SUNY Oswego has awarded a merit scholarship to Donald J. Hebert of Hilton. He received a $5,000 dean's award. The award recognizes past academic achievement and potential for success.
