CC grad to solo with RPO
Churchville's Jessie Lehman will be performing as a soloist with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra at the Temple B'rith Kodesh concert on Thursday, July 27. Lehman, a soprano, will be performing "Una vocce poco fa" by Rossini, and "O mio babbino caro" by Puccini.
While a senior at Churchville-Chili High School, Lehman was the winner of the 2004 R.P.O. Young Artist Auditions where she received the Deverian Award, the Jan DeGaetani scholarship, and the Special Award for overall winner of the competition. Occasionally, Special Award recipients are invited to perform with the R.P.O.
Lehman also received a scholarship to attend the Eastman School of Music where she spent her freshman year studying voice with Karen Holvik and Robert Swensen. She currently studies with Constance Fee at Roberts Wesleyan College where she plans to transfer in the fall to pursue degrees in music education and theater. She has been an active member of community theater and has performed in over 20 local productions with lead roles in several musicals including "The Wizard of Oz," "The King and I," "Seussical," "Oklahoma," and "Guys and Dolls."
Conducted by Michael Butterman, "An Evening with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra" will be held at the Temple B'rith Kodesh at 2131 Elmwood Avenue. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with a silent auction, and the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. General admission tickets for this benefit concert are $20 in advance, $24 at the door. Students with I.D., $15.
