Spencerport approves property purchases
Public access and street widening were the motivators for the Village of Spencerport purchasing the Diehl property at 126 South Union Street and property and easements on Evergreen Street. The purchases are not to exceed $40,000.
"We bought the driveway at the Diehl property (next to The Unique Shop) so we can get utilities to the trolley building," Mayor Ted Walker said. "There was also no public access to the municipal parking lot, rather than an easement, we bought the driveway."
On Evergreen Street, the village purchased three feet on both sides of the road. "We needed to acquire the property to widen the street and put in amenities - gutters, waterlines," he said.
