Girls Sports Festival registration deadline August 9

The 9th annual Monroe County Girls' Sports Festival, presented by Frontier, will be held on Saturday, August 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at ESL Sports Centre at Monroe Community College. The festival is sponsored in part by the Monroe County Sports Commission.

Registration forms are available at ESL Sports Centre, online at www.monroecountysports.org, or by calling the Monroe County Sports Commission at 585-262-3832. The registration fee is $15 and includes participation in five sports, lunch, a goodie bag and t-shirt. The registration deadline is August 9.

The Monroe County Girls' Sports Festival is a one-day event for girls between the ages of 8 and 14. Participants are able to gain hands-on knowledge of sports in a non-competitive setting. No experience is necessary. Last year, about 400 girls participated in the festival.

The event is open to girls who live in or outside of Monroe County. It is also open to girls with physical disabilities - several of the sports are adapted. All clinics are hosted by local sports organizations and volunteer athletes.
