The following students enrolled in the L. C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science at Syracuse University were named to the dean's list for the spring 2006 semester. To qualify for the dean's list, students must achieve at least a 3.4 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the semester.

Brian Hunte of Hilton; Amanda Palmer and Christopher Ruscher, both of Rochester.


The following students enrolled in the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University were named to the dean's list for the spring 2006 semester. To qualify for the dean's list, students must achieve at least a 3.4 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the semester.

Alexander Kalamaroff of Rochester; Shannon Ealy and Katharine Vooheis, both of Spencerport.


Ann Bliss, daughter of Terry and Cookie Bliss of Kent, has been named to the spring dean's list at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams, Massachusetts. She is a junior majoring in English and is a 2003 graduate of Kendall High School.


Rebecca Erbland, daughter of Bernie and Laurie Erbland of Hamlin and a graduate of Brockport High School, has been awarded the Gladys W. Queen Future Teacher Award for her academic achievement.

A check for $1,400 is presented to a student who has attended Brockport High School for a minimum of three years, achieved at least a B average and is entering the field of education, math or science at SUNY Brockport.


P. Robert Fox was elected to the Lakeside Health System Board of Directors.

In 1978, Fox became a founding partner of Eldredge, Fox & Porretti, LLP, a certified public accounting firm, where he currently serves as an advisory partner. Fox has experience in auditing many types of health care facilities and is involved in many community activities. He previously served as treasurer of the Lakeside Beikirch Care Center Board of Directors and currently serves as treasurer of the Lakeside Foundation Board and the Greece Chamber Charitable Foundation. He also serves as a community outreach representative for Assemblyman Steve Hawley.


Amanda Piatek, daughter of Henry and Rosalie Piatek of Stony Point Road, Rochester, has been named to the spring 2006 dean's list at Keuka College in Keuka Park, NY

Piatek, a junior, is studying occupational therapy.

A Keuka College student must have earned at least a 3.50 grade-point-average for each block of at least 12 semester credit hours to be eligible for the dean's list.


Amy Piatek, daughter of Henry and Rosalie Piatek of Stony Point Road, Rochester, has been named to the dean's list for the spring 2006 semester at the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Piatek, a junior, will begin graduate courses in physical therapy in the fall.


Air Force Airman Alexander J. Wieczorek has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Wieczorek is the son of Paul and Marcia Wieczorek of Monroe Avenue, Brockport. He is a 2005 graduate of Brockport High School.


Army Pvt. David S. Hazzard has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, South Carolina. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field exercises.

He is the son of Michelle Orto of Churchville. Hazzard is a 2005 graduate of the Greece Community Learning Center.
