Spencerport soccer club collects soccer equipment

On Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25, 184 pieces of soccer equipment were collected during the annual Spencerport Soccer Club Tournament. The collection, developed through the U.S. Soccer Foundation's Passback Program, was organized and directed by Bria Mastrogiovanni, a member of the U14 Spencerport Rage girl's soccer team. The Passback Program is a joint effort between the U.S. Soccer Foundation, Eurosport and major league soccer to help meet the soccer uniform and equipment needs of all communities.

Mastrogiovanni, with the support of teammates Katie Burgstrom, Laura Burgstrom and Andrea Telesca, collected soccer jerseys, shorts, socks, cleats, shin guards, soccer balls and other pieces of soccer equipment during the two-day tournament.

All teams participating in the Spencerport Soccer Tournament were contacted prior to the tournament and encouraged to bring and donate new or nicely used soccer equipment to the collection. The equipment collected was donated to the boys and girls of the Flower City Soccer Program in the City of Rochester.

Mastrogiovanni's responsibilities included organizing the set up for the collection at the tournament, collecting equipment, inventorying and listing all items collected and making contact with the Flower City Soccer Program for the donation of the equipment.
