Retiring officers
The Orleans County Sheriff's Office lost a combined total of 54 years of service as a result of the retirements of Chief Deputy Raymond Emerson and Correction Officer Susan Emerson. Ray joined the sheriff's office as a correction officer on March 19, 1979. He transferred to the road patrol in 1982 and in 2002, he was elevated to the rank of chief deputy. Susan joined the sheriff's office May 25, 1979. The Emersons were guests of honor at a retirement party given by the Deputy Sheriff's Association and the Sheriff's Employee Association on Friday, September 15 at the Albion Elks Club.
