Holley recognizes young leaders with 'Soaring to New Heights Award'
Holley students Steven Dill, Joshua Hatfield, Hannah Thiel and Kelsey Wilson received September's "Soaring to New Heights" Award at the Board of Education meeting on September 16. Each month, the district recognizes a student or group at the elementary, middle or high school level for being a positive role model. The four students were nominated by Elementary Principal Lee Ann Cervini for their participation in the Junior National Young Leader's Conference in Washington, D.C.
The conference helps young scholars develop and sharpen their leadership skills by examining the leaders of the past and empowering them to make a positive social impact in their community and the world. Students work together to develop action plans that affect change within their home and communities. Those who are selected to participate demonstrate leadership potential and a history of academic achievement.
"We are pleased our students were selected to attend this conference," said Cervini. "All four students worked to raise the funds necessary to attend and demonstrated the highest level of character while attending the conference. We are proud of them and look forward to their leadership this school year."
