Emily Egan of Chili earned her Black Belt in Karate on August 19 at the Caparco Martial Arts dojo. An outstanding achievement in its own right for a 14-year-old girl, she is the third in her family to achieve this rank. Her sister, Kelsey, and mother, Claudia, are also Caparco Black Belts. Dojo owner, Kyoshi Mark Caparco, an eighth-degree Black Belt, says he is not aware of another situation quite like this one. The girls are both academic high-achievers at Churchville-Chili High School, where Kelsey is a member of the varsity tennis team and Emily plays on the junior varsity.
