Rangers seeded fifth
Senior day at Spencerport brought a 2-0 loss to Greece Athena, which cost the Ranger boy's soccer team a home game for the first round of the Section V playoffs.
Spencerport dominated the early stages forcing four corner kicks in the first 10 minutes. Their best scoring chance in the first half came in the 20th minute as Matthew Spezio fed Dominic Coco whose shot went outside the right post.
Ten minutes later, the Trojans scored when John Marini headed in a free kick from Anthony Mastrodonato. Early in the second half, John Nacca fed a cross from the right corner that Ajdin Mehanovic headed in for a 2-0 Trojan lead.
Spencerport's Daniel Maier had two scoring chances and Patrick DiSano another over the final 15 minutes of regulation, but could not convert. The Rangers played the final six minutes shorthanded with a second yellow given.
They won two 50-50 balls in the box and that was the game, said head coach Tom Etsler. "Now, we're locked into playing Churchville-Chili, but it would have been nice to host."
Spencerport went 8-2 over their final 10 games of the regular season, but lost to Churchville-Chili 3-1 as part of the Hilton Tournament early in the year.
