Agricultural district hearing scheduled

Monroe County's Southwestern Agricultural District, located in the Towns of Chili, Riga and Wheatland, is currently under review. As part of this process, property owners had the opportunity to request that their land be added to or removed from the district.

The Monroe County Legislature is holding a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, November 27, at the Riga Town Hall, 6460 East Buffalo Road, Riga. Comments will be accepted that concern the existing district, the proposed modifications (adding four parcels containing 327.8 acres and removing three parcels containing 134.5 acres), and the recommendation of the Agriculture and Farmland Preservation Board and the Monroe County Planning Board to continue the district with the proposed modifications.
