Spencerport Wellness committee seeks volunteers
The Spencerport Central School District is launching a Comprehensive Health and Wellness Initiative (CHWI) to help support the physical, mental and social health of staff and students as well as to remove barriers to learning. This initiative also supports the district's new Wellness Policy, approved by the board of education.
The district is seeking parents or other district residents, students and support staff to be members of this committee. The committee will consist of four subcommittees:
Physical health subcommittee - chaired by Athletic Director John Pelin and Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Dr. Bernadette Skobjak.
Mental health subcommittee - chaired by Family Support Center Director Dr. David Seaburn and Coordinator of Special Education Cherie Bikowsky.
Wellness policy and nutrition subcommittee - chaired by Director of Food Services Denise Kelly and Personnel Analyst Jamie Lissow.
Risk behavior/Asset development subcommittee - chaired by Family Support Center Prevention Specialist Pam Robinson and Director of Student Services Terry Hedges.
The first meeting of these subcommittees will be in January. Anyone interested in joining should contact Robinson at probinson@spencerportschools.org by December 15.
