Memorial skate planned

The Hilton Hockey Boosters will hold a skate on Saturday, December 16, in memory of Hilton graduate Rob Coppaway. The eighth annual event, from 5 until 6:45 p.m., will include an hour of free skate time and a game of broomball featuring members of the senior class, high school teachers and administration. The event will be held at Lakeshore Hockey Arena, 123 Ling Road, Greece. Donation is $5 per family or $2 per person.

Coppaway, a four-year varsity hockey player at Hilton, died in a car crash in Ontario, Canada, in December 1999. Each year, a scholarship is given to a graduating senior player on the Hilton High School hockey team who exhibits the inspirational qualities and pure love of the game that Coppaway demonstrated. Money raised at the event will be used toward the scholarship.
