Blue Devils 1-1 to start
Brockport's high school hockey team defeated Hilton 4-3 to open the season, but fell to Webster-Thomas 7-0 on home ice in their second game.
AJ Grabowski scored one goal with three assists and Brendan Rothfuss had a pair of goals to lead the Titans. Brockport goal tender Amanda Hoy turned away 24 of 31 shots on goal.
"We had one line that was all sophomores, so we are real young," said Brockport head coach Scott Empey. "It will take some time for them to get used to the speed and quickness at this level. They just need to keep moving their feet."
The Blue Devils played without starting forwards Alan Hart and Billy Schwab and starting goaltender Mike Pickard who are out with injuries.
"We had opportunities to get the puck out of our zone, but chose to skate back," said Empey. "Thomas is a good team and they just pounded the forecheck and took advantage."
The Titans scored three times in the first period and added two goals in the second and third period in the shutout.
