"It's Cool to Care" at Terry Taylor School

The fifth grade student leaders at the Terry Taylor School promoted a Bullying Prevention week, "It's Cool to Care." The student leaders read daily morning announcements to all students and faculty providing research-based information about the problems that bullying behavior can produce and the various strategies that we all can employ to combat bullying behavior. At the fourth and fifth grade levels, the student leaders taught a lesson about teasing and how that can damage self-esteem.

The fifth grade student leaders visited classrooms to read books about the problems that bullying can produce and most importantly, offered strategies on how to deal with this problem.

On Friday, December 1, students and faculty were encouraged to wear blue as a sign of peace and solidarity against all forms of bullying. Taylor School Counselor Pat Bevan said, "Our fifth grade student leaders did a terrific job and they really made Spencerport proud!"
