Hilton Apple Fest appreciates volunteers
The Hilton Apple Fest is always looking for volunteers who want to pitch in and help. Committee members say they found two really good ones. Alice Tynan has worked the Apple Fest for three years and Clayton Grantham worked this past year. They both reside at Hilton East. When asked how they became involved, Alice said, "I heard an advertisement on TV and walked down and talked to people at the Information Booth." Clayton said, "In past years I was a visitor and as a Hilton resident I was interested. Also I was recruited by Dave Amo.
Alice said she enjoyed working in the Information Booth, handing out flyers, helping visitors with directions and answering questions. "It makes me feel good to be giving something," she said.
Clayton, meanwhile, was busy checking in Arts & Crafts folks and handing out their information packages as they arrived. Later, he worked the Information Booth and said, "I was able to see the whole Apple Fest as it went by me. I learned a little village history, made new friends, and am glad to have had the experience. We live in a warm community."
Both felt the best part of the Apple Fest was helping people - especially out-of-towers.
When asked if they would consider working next year, both gave a big smile and said, "Definitely."
