Residents urged to adopt a fire hydrant

The Orleans County Sheriff's Office, in cooperation with all county fire departments, would like to encourage residents in all areas of the county to adopt a fire hydrant. Each time snow is removed from a driveway and/or sidewalk, take a few minutes to also clear away the snow from the nearest fire hydrant.

When fire strikes, time is of the essence. Shoveling out the hydrant provides a valuable and necessary service to the fire department, community, neighborhood and possibly to yourself.
