Hilton, C-C voters pass school project plans

Residents of the Hilton School District approved a $9.5 million renovation project bond vote by a 620 to 102 margin on January 30.

The project will involve replacing and repairing school roofs, doors, windows, ceilings, flooring, lighting, HVAC, electric service and network technology, provide new bleachers in the high school gymnasium and perform asbestos abatement. Work is expected to begin in June 2008.

An overwhelming majority, 429-82, voted in favor of the proposed $9.4 million repair project in the Churchville-Chili School District. Assistant Superintendent for Business Frank Nardone said district officials appreciate the overwhelming support the voters gave to the project. The plans include roof replacements, pool equipment replacement and replacement of heating and ventilation systems.

"Now that we've received voter approval we can begin the steps necessary to improve the buildings for the safety of the children and the community," Nardone said.
