Local men elected to 2007 Coast Guard Auxiliary Bridge
Sworn in by District Commodore James Phillips and District Vice Commodore Raymond Gress, Captain Peter Urgola of Hilton and Vice Captain Richard Myrick of Hamlin assumed command of the helm of United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Division 04 Bridge. Captain Urgola, a member of Flotilla 48 in Hamlin, has held national, district, division and flotilla posts through his 20 year plus membership in the auxiliary. In addition, he is an accomplished coxswain, instructor and remains extremely active in membership training.
Vice Captain Myrick, also a member of Flotilla 48 in Hamlin, has held national, district, division and flotilla posts, and is crew qualified, PWC crew qualified and remains an active instructor, vessel examiner and program visitor for the auxiliary. Myrick, also a long time member of the Iroquois Power Squadron, brings great depth to the bridge.
The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is the uniformed, volunteer component of Team Coast Guard which assists the active duty Coast Guard in all of its varied missions, except for military and direct law enforcement. These men and women can be found on the nation's waterways, in the air, in classrooms, and on the dock, performing Maritime Domain Awareness patrols, safety patrols, vessel safety checks and public education.
