The following students enrolled in the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University were named to the dean's list for the fall 2006 semester. To qualify for the dean's list, students must achieve at least a 3.4 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the semester.

  • Shannon Ealy, Spencerport, a junior majoring in advertising.
  • Elizabeth Oberlin, Spencerport, a sophomore majoring in public relations.
  • Katharine Voorheis, Spencerport, a sophomore majoring in public relations.
  • Mary Puchalski, Brockport, a sophomore majoring in television, radio and film.

The following students enrolled in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University were named to the dean's list for the fall 2006 semester. To qualify for the dean's list, students must achieve at least a 3.4 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the semester.

  • Jamie Duff, Brockport, a senior majoring in fashion design.
  • Lauren Easton, Churchville, a sophomore majoring in communication and rhetorical studies.

Stephen M. Hawley of Stephen M. Hawley and Associates LLC, a charter member of Alpha Associates, Inc., has qualified for membership in the Merchants Insurance Group President's Club.

Hawley is president of the agency, which serves the insurance needs of its clients in Genesee, Livingston, Orleans and Wyoming counties. The agency employs seven people and has been in business since 1867.

Hawley is also the New York State Assemblyman from the 130th Assembly district.


The following area students enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse University were named to the dean's list for the fall 2006 semester. To qualify for the dean's list, students must achieve at least a 3.4 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the semester.

  • Andrew Kleehammer, Hamlin, a sophomore majoring in political science.
  • Tempest Wolfe, Hamlin, a senior majoring in psychology.
  • Chelsie Kleeh, Hilton, a freshman majoring in pre-medicine.
  • Brett Welcher, Hilton, a junior majoring in political science and public relations.
  • Mallory Blackburn, Spencerport, a senior majoring in philosophy.
  • Andrew Powers, Spencerport, a sophomore majoring in chemistry and mathematics.

The following students enrolled in the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science at Syracuse University were named to the dean's list for the fall 2006 semester. To qualify for the dean's list, students must achieve at least a 3.4 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the semester.

  • Brian Hunte, Hilton, a sophomore majoring in aerospace engineering.
  • Keriann DeLorme, Spencerport, a sophomore majoring in aerospace engineering.

Kathryn Wilson, EdD, JD, has been named vice president for enrollment management and student affairs at the State University of New York College at Brockport.

Wilson is currently the assistant vice president for student affairs at Minnesota State University at Moorhead, where she oversees student judicial affairs, security, international programs, orientation, and the freshman year experience. She works closely with the President's Office as MSUM's point person for litigation. She earned her EdD degree in higher education administration and athletic administration from West Virginia University; and recently completed a juris doctor degree at the University of North Dakota School of Law.

Dr. Wilson, who was selected following a national search, will assume her duties at SUNY Brockport on July 1.


Rob MacClaren of Holley, a freshman at Penn State University, has been inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society after making the dean's list in the Schreyer's Honors College, University Park.

MacClaren fences on the starting roster for PSU's NCAA Division I team, and finished the first half of the season with a winning percentage of 75 percent in meets at MIT, PSU, Temple and NYU. He traveled to Albuquerque, Columbus, and Denver and will travel this semester to Northwestern, Drew University, Columbus, Tucson, and, based on his record, to NCAA Championships.

Rob MacClaren is a 2006 graduate of McQuaid Jesuit High School.


Patrick L. Curtis of Hilton has achieved the dean's list with a GPA of 3.40-3.69 at SUNY College at Brockport for fall 2006. He is a 2003 graduate of Hilton High School and is the son of Larry and Roxanne Curtis. Patrick is a senior majoring in computer science.


Brian J. Allis of Hilton, has achieved dean's list with a GPA of 3.40-3.69 at SUNY College at Brockport for fall 2006. He is a 2005 graduate of Hilton High School and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Allis.


Michael Cocquyt of Hilton completed the 26.2 mile "Last Chance for Boston" Marathon in Dublin, Ohio with a time of three hours and one minute, ten seconds. This time qualifies him to run in the Boston Marathon on April 16. He is studying physical education at SUNY Brockport where he was named to the dean's list for the fall 2006 semester.


James Baxter of Spencerport has been named to the D'Youville College dean's list. To qualify he maintained a quality point average of 3.40 or above for the previous semester. This indicates superior academic performance and becomes a permanent part of the student's college record.


Hannah Billings of Kendall, a biology and theatre major, daughter of Fred and Tracy Billings, has been named to the dean's list of academic achievement for the fall 2006 term at Elmira College.


Kimberly Hill, a senior at Roberts Wesleyan College, has been named to the dean's list with highest honors, achieving 4.0 GPA for the 2006 fall semester.

A 2003 graduate of Churchville-Chili High School, she is majoring in childhood education and special education. She is the daughter of Larry and Karlene Hill of Chili.


Sara R. Tully '08 of Rochester has been selected for inclusion on the dean's list for academic achievement during the fall semester at St. Lawrence University in Canton. To be eligible for the dean's list, a student must have completed at least four semester units and have an academic average of 3.6 (based on a perfect 4.0 scale) for the semester.

Tully graduated from Spencerport High School in Spencerport. She is majoring in psychology. Psi Chi (Psychology) is among the activities that Sara has participated on campus.


Michael Stapleton, Jr. has joined the Lakeside Health System as vice president of patient care and chief nursing officer. His previous career includes managing several nursing departments with organizations such as University of Rochester Medical Center, Strong Memorial Hospital. Stapleton said he was impressed by the mission and vision statements of the Lakeside Health System. "I was also impressed by the community support. The positive environment is very evident as you walk the halls and meet the staff. I look forward to building on all of the successful programs within the Lakeside Health System," Stapleton was quoted as saying in a press release.

Stapleton received his bachelor of science in nursing in 1998 from St. John Fisher College, magna cum laude. He also holds a bachelor of science in psychology from the State University of New York at Oswego. In May 2007, he will hold a master's degree in leadership in health care systems from the University of Rochester School of Nursing.

Andrea Guck, a 2005 graduate of Hilton High School and a sophomore at Niagara University, has been named to the dean's list for the third straight semester. Her parents are George and Dawn Guck of Hilton. She has also been nominated to the national dean's list by her dean of education at Niagara.


John Masco, physical education and sport, received his Hall of Fame ring from the North American Sports Federation (ASA affiliated). He is the current New York State Commissioner for Softball and had been inducted into the National and State Halls of Fame at Oklahoma City, ASA Headquarters and ASA Binghamton, New York, 1993 and 1994, respectively. Masco was inducted as a Hall of Honor umpire as well as NASF Commissioner.

He was invited to supervise the NASF Girls Fast Pitch Softball Camps in June and again in January 2007 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was also asked to teach four classes at the Providence High School in Jacksonville. He has taught softball, football and volleyball, officiating and coaching for the past 14 years at SUNY Brockport.


Students were named to the dean's list at SUNY Geneseo for the 2006 fall semester. In order to qualify, students had to carry at least 12 credit hours, maintain a 3.4 grade-point average (GPA) out of 4.0 and have no "D," "E" or incomplete grades.

Several students also appear on the president's list which requires a 4.0 GPA.

Craig Brinkman and Matthew MacGilvray, both of Spencerport, were named to the president's list. Rachel Brower, Timothy Calnon, Jason Dorofy, Diana Hemm, Christine Klotzbach, Rachel Laber, Lauren Sochia, Desiree Marciano, Maureen Peer, Kimberly Root and Matthew Ruf, all of Spencerport, were named to the dean's list.


Kirsten O'Grady, 11-years-old of Brockport, will be competing in the Junior Miss division at the 2007 finals of the International Prince and Princess pageant being held at the Marriott Hotel in Stamford, Connecticut March 31-April 1. She is the daughter of Pam O'Grady of Brockport and Tim O'Grady of Hamlin.

Contestants will compete for more than $60,000 in savings bonds, gifts and prizes, including a $3,000 savings bond to the grand overall winner. Thousands of dollars worth of trophies and prizes will also be awarded at the international competition.


Christine Walker of Brockport has achieved the dean's list with honors with a GPA of 3.70-3.99 at SUNY College at Brockport for fall 2006. She is a 2004 graduate of Brockport High School and is the daughter of William and Eleanor Walker.


Ricky Bower was named Hilton Nothnagle's Agent of the Year 2006, according to Dan Head, manager of the Hilton Office.

Bower is a life-long resident of Parma. He is a "New Home Development Expert" representing Country Creek Estates.


Dan Head, manager of the Nothnagle Realtors Hilton Office, named Frank and Nicki Trinca Team of the Year 2006.

Frank has been a Real Estate Broker for 30 years. Frank and his wife, Nicki, live on the Lake Ontario shore and specialize in lake front properties.


Steve Shideler was named Top Listing Agent for January 2007 at Prudential Discover Real Estate.


Pfc. Christine Everroad-Still, former student at Kendall Central High School and resident of Morton, has completed her tour of duty with the US Army in South Korea. She has recently reported for her new assignment with the 988th Military Police Combat Support Company at Fort Benning, Georgia.


Thomas A. Burns was promoted from Airman Basic to Airman on February 22 at Spangdahlem Air Force Base in Germany. He will spend two years at that location, working as an Air Field Management Apprentice.

He is the son of David and Debbie Burns of Spencerport, and a 2006 Spencerport High School graduate.
