Students in Craig Bodensteiner's fifth grade class at Bernabi Elementary School in Spencerport learned about the devastating damage in Lake County, Florida, following tornadoes on February 2. A cousin of Spencerport Board of Education President Laura McFarlane teaches fifth grade there. The storms affected many students in that school, through personal loss or knowing someone who lost everything. Bodensteiner's students wrote letters and created cards so that the students in Florida would know people care about them. Students attached personal mementos to the cards such as bookmarks, baseball cards and charms. March 4, 2007 |
