Genesee, Orleans counties' roads among best in New York
The New York State Department of Transporation (NYSDOT) annual Pavement Condition of New York's Highways report shows state highways in Genesee and Orleans counties rank third and sixth respectively, among all New York state counties based on 2006 pavement conditions. DOT officials attribute the rankings to last year's aggressive maintenance paving program with eight projects in Genesee County and five in Orleans.
"Local contractors such as Keeler Construction in Albion play an important role in the execution of a successful maintenance program," said Assemblyman Steve Hawley (139th District). "Local blacktop producers Hanson Aggregates in Stafford, County Line Stone in Akron and Barre Stone in Barre are also vital contributors of these impressive rankings."
In 2006, The Genesee/Orleans Residency, part of DOT Region 4, received a Recognition of Employee Excellence Award from then Commissioner Thomas J. Madison, Jr. and Regional Director Kevin O'Buckley.
