Michael Klatt of Clarendon has earned placement on the dean's list for the fall semester of 2006 at Berklee College of Music. To be eligible for this honor, a full-time student must achieve a grade point average of 3.4 or above. He is attending Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts with a music production and engineering major and anticipates graduation in 2009. He is the son of Susan and Mike Colby and Ryan and Patricia Klatt of Clarendon.


Vanessa R. Taylor, a junior at the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, Massachusetts, was inducted into Holy Cross's chapter of Phi Alpha Theta (Kappa Omega Chapter), the International History Honors Society on February 8. Membership is based on a student's overall academic average as well as a student's excellent performance in history courses. Vanessa is double majoring in history and Medieval Renaissance Studies.


Laurie Farnsworth, of Ogden, has been named to the dean's list for the winter quarter at Rochester Institute of Technology's National Technical Institute for the Deaf with a 4.0 average. Farnsworth is majoring in sign language Interpretation.

The dean's list recognizes the academic achievement of students earning a 3.4 grade point average (GPA) or better.


Thomas Stojanov, of Spencerport, has been named to the dean's list for the winter quarter at Rochester Institute of Technology. A second year student in RIT's Kate Gleason College of Engineering, he is studying electrical engineering.

He is the son of Bosko and Deborah Stojanov and is a 2005 graduate of Spencerport High School.


The following students were named to the dean's list at the State University of New York at New Paltz for the fall 2006 semester.

Justine Brechue, a resident of Hamlin, a sophomore majoring in art education pre-major and Amy Mintonye, a resident of Hilton, a sophomore majoring in visual arts.

Dean's list designation is preserved for students who excel academically and earn at least a 3.3 grade point average in a semester with a full-time course load.


Lynnea Schurkamp, of Spencerport, made the dean's list for fall term at the Thomas M. Cooley Law School. She is a graduate of SUNY Cortland and of Spencerport High School. She is the daughter of Charlene and Roger Schurkamp.


Richard Marsden is the new Director of Special Events for the American Cancer Society's Eastern Division (New York and New Jersey). Marsden will be responsible for planning the annual Walter Hagen Golf Tournament. Additionally, he will develop a high-end fundraising gala for the American Cancer Society, an event that hasn't been a reality since the 1990s.

Marsden comes to the American Cancer Society from the Boy Scouts of America, where he was a district director. His background in developing, training and cultivating volunteers as well as his fundraising skills will make him an asset to the American Cancer Society. "I hope my talents will positively affect the American Cancer Society's mission. I look forward to working with a great staff and wonderful volunteers," said Marsden, a resident of Hamlin.


Sandra Canosa, daughter of Spencerport residents John and Roxanne Canosa, was inducted into Ithaca College's Oracle Honor Society in March. The spring ceremony honors students who have completed their first semester ranked in the top five percent of their academic schools. She is a freshman in the college's School of Humanities and Sciences.

Karla Hatfield, who is in the 3-1-3 program at Spencerport High School, has achieved the dean's list with a GPA of 3.40-3.69 at SUNY College at Brockport for the Fall of 2006. She expects to be a 2007 graduate of Spencerport High School and is the daughter of Lou and Michelle Petix and Stephen Hatfield of Acworth, Georgia.


At a ceremony at the Potsdam Police Department, Officer Kyle E. Fink was sworn in to duty. He is a 2005 graduate of the State University of New York at Canton where he received a Bachelor of Technology degree in criminal investigation. He was awarded Outstanding Baccalaureate Graduate of 2005. He also received the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Academic Excellence, one of 260 students honored from a field of 100,000 SUNY graduates. In May 2006, Fink graduated from the Potsdam Police Academy where he earned the David Sullivan Overall Best Cadet Award. He is a 2001 graduate of Byron-Bergen High School and is the son of Kathleen and Gary Fink of Bergen and the great-grandson of the former and late Chief Philip G. Coffey of the Albany Police Department.


Daniel Osipovitch of Bergen was named to the dean's list at the University of New Haven for the fall 2006 semester. Full time undergraduate students must have a 3.50 or better cumulative GPA for the semester to be eligible for the dean's list.


Brendan J. Gaesser, son of Amy H. Gaesser of Kendall, and James A. Gaesser of Leicester, has been accepted to Harvard University for Fall 2007. He has been awarded full scholarship to pursue his doctorate in neuropsychology while acting as a graduate assistant to the department of psychology.


Kristin Semmler, of Brockport, has been named to the dean's list for the winter quarter at Rochester Institute of Technology. A fourth-year student in RIT's College of Business, she is studying business management with a minor in American Sign Language and human resources. Semmler is the daughter of Theresa Whipple and Steve Semmler and a 2003 graduate of Brockport High School.


Joan Greeno, associate broker for Nothnagle Realtor's Chili/Ogden Office, was awarded Top Sales Agent of the Month for February from Branch Manager Bob Malone. She had $1,000,000 in sales production and has been selling real estate for 22 years in the greater Rochester area.
