Brockport harnesses lightning
On their home field, Brockport's boys lacrosse team had little trouble in running out to a 9-0 half-time lead on their way to an easy 14-1 win over Greece Arcadia/Olympia to improve their record to 5-4.
Adam Nauerth and Eric Gallert each registered three goals with Braden Flynn and Andrew Willis each scoring twice. "We had to keep our focus, but we just use games like this to try to get better," said senior attack man Nauerth. "We just followed our game plan; spread the other team out and ran our offense."
Just 30 seconds into the game Tucker English stole the ball and fed Flynn for the goal. Less than a minute later Willis passed to Gallert for his first goal. Later in the opening quarter Sean Bittner rifled in a shot from 15 yards out at 8:22 and Gallert scored his second with a skip shot at 9:50.
Flynn, Nauerth (2), Matt Lester and Willis made it 9-0 with second quarter goals. Willis, Gallert and Nauerth tallied goals in the third quarter with Justin Klymochko and John Hopkins finishing the scoring in the fourth.
Connor Mykins and John Duthoy split the game in net for Brockport and combined for 17 saves. The Blue Devils lost their shutout bid on a goal by Matthew Hood with just 1:25 remaining.
