Local gymnastics group
hosts Dare to be Great event
Bright Raven Gymnastics of Gates played host to the Dare to Be Great Invitational May 5 through 6. More than 200 gymnasts represented nine teams.
The Level 4 team won first place with Sarah Daniels of Churchville taking first place on bars, beam, floor and all around in the 12 and over division. Kelley Parker of Hilton earned third place on bars. In the 9 through 10 age division, Tess Diskin of LeRoy took first place all around, first on the uneven bars, second on balance beam and third on floor exercise. Allison Prem of Greece was third all around. Hannah Thomas of North Chili placed second on both floor and bars. Madeline Plucknette of Churchville took first place on floor and third place on bars. In vaulting competition, Kiah Washington of Henrietta took first place and Emily Wade of Gates was third. Meagan Bell of Gates earned third place on beam. In the 6 to 8 age division, Julia Shire of Chili placed third all-around and was second on vault, bars and beam.
Bright Raven's Level 5 team took second place with Alison Steinmetz of Greece winning first place on vault and second all around in the 9-year-old division. In the 10-year-old division, Karina Kyle of Brockport took first place on vault, second on beam, third on floor and second all around. Megan Boyce of LeRoy was first on bars. Gabriella Garcea of Churchville took second place on vault. In the 12 and over division, Nikole VanWie of Brockport took first place on vault, second on floor exercise and second all around.
The Level 6 Team took first place with Megan Stevens of Brockport winning first place on floor, second on bars, second on beam and second all around in the 9 through 10 age division. In the 12-year-old-division, Carly King of Churchville took first on vault, third on beam, third on floor and second all around. Danielle Adam of Greece was second on beam and floor. In the 11-year-old division, Jessica Carder of Walworth earned third place on floor exercise and Rachel Shire of Chili earned third place on both vault and beam. In the 13 year-old group, Kristina Schiffhuer of Greece was first on bars, third on floor, third on vault and third all around.
Hannah Fouts of Brighton took first place on balance beam. Amber Rice of Brockport was third on bars. In the 14 and over division, Melissa Rombola of Spencerport was third on beam and floor.
