GCC Foundation names Medal of Service recipients

Batavia residents Jerry and Carm Reinhart were named the 2007 recipients of the Alpha Medal of Service. The medal recognizes extraordinary volunteer and philanthropic support of Genesee Community College. The Reinharts are members of the college's Class of 1971. The medal was presented during the college's May 20th commencement ceremony. The Reinharts were selected for the honor because of the support they provided at crucial moments in the college's history. Among their contributions: The Reinharts created The Jerry Reinhart Scholarship Fund in 1989 to provide support to deserving area students. It was one of the first Foundation scholarships, and other area citizens and business organizations modeled their own scholarship funds after the Reinhart Scholarship. Today, the Foundation manages more than 100 named scholarship funds.
