Bright Raven gymnasts traveled to Long Island to compete in the Level 5 State Championships May 18-20 bringing home many awards for their performance in individual and all around competition. In the 12-year-old division, Nikole VanWie of Brockport medalled in every event, as well as all around competition. She placed second in floor exercise (9.575), third on vault (9.475), ninth on balance beam (9.05), tenth on the uneven parallel bars (9.025) and fourth all around (37.125). In the 11-year-old division, Rachel Shire of Chili earned four medals finishing fourth on vault (9.225), fifth on the uneven parallel bars (9.30), ninth on floor exercise (9.35) and ninth all around (36.175). Bright Raven had two gymnasts medal in the 10-year-old division. Karina Kyle of Brockport earned fourth place in vaulting (9.275) and Megan Boyce of LeRoy earned seventh place in floor exercise (9.40). June 3, 2007 |
