OPD cars damaged

No injuries were reported in an accident that caused extensive damage to two Ogden Police cars on June 13.

The cars were parked on the side of the road with the flashing lights running, on Westside Drive. The officers were investigating an unrelated incident when the vehicles were hit by a sport utility vehicle. The SUV hit one police car, which then hit the second car. The officers were not in the vehicles and the driver of the SUV was not injured.

Police Chief Douglas Nordquist said alcohol did not appear to be a factor. The Monroe County Sheriff's office is investigating the accident.
