Churchville-Chili graduate returns as Superintendent of Schools
The Churchville-Chili Board of Education has selected Dr. Pamela Kissel as Churchville-Chili's next Superintendent of Schools.
Dr. Kissel comes from the Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES where she is currently serving as Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and Support. Kissel, a graduate of Churchville-Chili, is also an adjunct professor at Roberts Wesleyan College. Prior to BOCES, Kissel was principal at Penfield High School and held administrative positions in the Cato-Meridian Central School District.
In her role at BOCES 2, Kissel has been recognized as a leader in instruction in this region and beyond. Under her supervision, BOCES 2 has supported its districts with customized professional development, most notably training in the area of literacy.
Tom Smithgall, Churchville-Chili Board of Education president, said Kissel proved to be the perfect fit for the district.
"Selecting a Superintendent of Schools is, perhaps, the most important decision a school board makes. We are confident that Dr. Kissel's knowledge, interpersonal style and skills are a good fit for Churchville-Chili and that she will help us in our efforts to continually increase educational excellence."
Kissel said the opportunity to lead Churchville is a dream come true.
"It is a wonderful feeling to be making a dream move professionally and at the same time have an overwhelming feeling that I'm coming home. As a student, and again in my work through BOCES, this district has become an important part of my life."
Dr. Kissel resides in Rochester with her husband, John. The couple has two grown children, Aaron Kissel and Abbie Kissel Paine. A mid-July start date is anticipated.
