Kendall schools ranked high in western New York

For the seventh consecutive year, Kendall Central School District ranked high on the list of public school districts in western New York by Buffalo's Business First newspaper. The district ranked 39 out of 97 school systems in the eight-county region, which is up four places from last year. Kendall also ranked first among the five districts in Orleans County. Each district was scored on a 100-point scale, reflecting the collective performance of its public elementary, middle and high schools during the past three years.

The paper ranked the Kendall School District eighth out of the 97 school districts based on a comparison of academic performance and school expenditures. Kendall's spending per pupil is $6,018.

Kendall Elementary School also faired well with a ranking of 115 out of the 291 elementary schools in the survey. "We are very encouraged by our scores and rankings in Business First as they provide us with comparison data to other western New York school districts," said Elementary Principal Scott Wright. "Our faculty and staff continue to work with our students to help them be successful. And our focus has always been to provide the best education we can to our youngsters, while being mindful of very precious but limited resources."

Kendall placed eighth out of the top 10 high schools in the eastern tier. "Kendall High School consistently ranks as a top performing school in Orleans County," said High School Principal Carol D'Agostino.
