Gillam-Grant programs
The following Community Education and Events are happening at the Gillam-Grant Community Center, 6966 West Bergen Road, Bergen, NY 494-1621.
Trip to Lake George - Spend September 26 through 28 motor coach touring Saratoga Springs and the Lake George area. Re-live history, art and excitement of thoroughbred racing at the National Museum of Racing. Visit Prospect Mountain, where a five-and-half-mile drive will take you to a 2,030 foot summit. Browse shops in the Lake George Village and end the night with a dinner show. Cruise of Lake George, spend an afternoon at Saratoga Gaming and Raceway. Two nights accommodations are at the Georgian Resort directly on the shores of Lake George. All including two breakfasts and two dinners are included in the price, $305 for members of Gillam-Grant and $310 for non-members (based on double occupancy). Call the center to reserve. Trip to GEVA Theater "Menopause the Musical," Wednesday, August 8, for a celebration of women and "the change." Deadline to reserve tickets is August 1. Tickets: $50. Call to sign up or more information.
Red Cross Babysitting Course Tuesday, August 6 and Wednesday, August 7 from 9 a.m. to noon. For children between the ages of 11 and 14. Both sessions must be attended to become certified. Cost: $30. Call to sign up or information.
Learn to Create A Butterfly Garden & have Tea and Lunch at Gillam-Grant Community Center on July 9 at 11 a.m. Gail Culver from the Cooperative Extension will talk and show slides. Tea and a light lunch of scones, sandwiches, desserts created by Lisa Brown. Cost: $10 M/$12NM. Call for information or to register.
5 Hour Pre-licensing Course - Wednesday, August 22 from 1 to 6 p.m. NYS Learner's Permit needed to take this class; bring to center at registration. Class size limited. Report to class at 12:45; class begins promptly at 1 p.m., no exceptions. Cost $25 M/$30 NM. Call to sign up or more information.
Acting/Performance Workshop - to study acting, rehearse skits, play improv games, learn stage presence, vocal techniques. This workshop will conclude with a "showcase" of talent. Instructed by Allyson Mercedes-Tardy. Mondays 3 to 4 p.m. July 16, 23, 30 and August 6, 13, 20. Recommended for grades 4 to 8. Fee: $45M/$50 NM. Registration deadline July 6. Lunch at Hurd's Orchard - July 19. After lunch there will be a stop at Kirby's Farm Market. Deadline for payment and registration is July 12. The bus will leave the center at 11:30 a.m. and return approximately 2:30 p.m. Cost $27 M/$30 NM. Call for more information or to register.
Broadway and Just Dessert! Lark Group, four vocalists who perform 20 songs from 15 Broadway musicals. Then finish the night with a fabulous dessert and beverage. Friday, July 20 at 7 p.m. Cost: $6M/$7NM. Call for information or to register call.
