Smith honored with local Rotary Award
Rosemary Smith watches as her husband, Roger, receives a plaque from Rob Blair, outgoing president of the Brockport Rotary Club. Performing one of his last official duties, Blair presented Smith with the club's annual Community Citizen of the Year Award. This year's honoree is a long-time member of BISCO and even longer of the Brockport Fire Department. Smith, who has been a fixture in running local food events, generously contributes his time and cooking and organizing skills to many local events such as Exempts dinners and many other events throughout the area. He helps plan and run the BISCO food concessions at the Brockport Arts Festival each year and has had a major role in running Max's Mardi Gras Parades over the years of that event. He has also held many offices in the Brockport Fire Department and Exempts. Rosemary Smith also serves the community by helping her husband as well as being a member of the Auxiliary and Lakeside's Twig. She also is a long time volunteer at Lakeside Memorial Hospital. Previous winners of this award are Jack Mazzarella ('06), Steve Appleton ('05), Greg Lund ('04) and Bob and Debbie Ryan ('03). Provided photo and information.
