Calling all pie makers

The Churchville Country Fair will be August 18 and 19 and on Saturday, The Star of the West Mill will sponsor the pie contest. Entry forms and rules are available from August 6 to August 16 at the Star of the West Milling Co., 35 South Main Street, Churchville.

Entrants will receive a five pound bag of Star of the West pastry flour and a pie tin when picking up entry forms and rules. There is no entry fee for the contest. All entries must be turned in to the St. Vincent DePaul Church Bake Sale booth at the Churchville Lions Country Fair between 10 a.m. and noon on Saturday, August 18. Judging will begin at 1 p.m.

The Star of the West Milling Co. will award three prizes in two different categories - Adult and Junior (19 and under); first prize, $75; second prize, $50; third prize, $25.

At 3:30 p.m. there will be an award ceremony followed by an auction including the top three pies in each division. Carol Ritter Wright will be the guest auctioneer. Pies will be donated to the St. Vincent DePaul Church Bake Sale Booth.
