Brockport district
appoints new staff

The Brockport Central School District Board of Education appointed Fil Peck as the new director of Curriculum and Professional Development. She began her new role July 1.

They also appointed Kenneth Sauer as A.D. Oliver Middle School Principal. He began his new role August 6.

Formerly, Peck was the principal at the Hill Elementary School for 10 years and prior to that she was instructional specialist in the building for three years. She has also taught at the elementary level for more than 18 years. Peck succeeds Michelle Turner who recently retired.

During her tenure at the Hill School, Peck was instrumental in implementing monthly faculty meetings focusing on professional growth, character building activities and before-school academic intervention services. Peck holds a certificate of advanced study in Educational Administration, a master’s degree in Educational Administration and a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education/English from SUNY Brockport.

Peck is a long-time resident of Brockport.

Sauer succeeds Rob Banzer who is now the assistant superintendent for instruction. He comes to Brockport from the Webutuck Middle/High School where he was principal of the grade 6-12 school since 2004. During his tenure as principal he was instrumental in improving student achievement. Prior to his principalship he was an assistant principal for two years and taught middle school math and high school science for 15 years.

Sauer received his educational administration certification from SUNY Oswego and holds a master of science in education degree from Elmira College and a bachelor of science degree from SUNY Cortland. Sauer and his wife, Karen, have a nine-year-old daughter, Liana. Sauer says he enjoys golf, boating, hunting, fishing and many outdoor activities.
