On Wednesday, September 19, "Not Just Another Pretty Vase: The Story of American Art Pottery," will be the subject of a presentation by Don Hall at the Morgan Manning House in Brockport. The presentation begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Victorian-era home located at 151 Main Street in Brockport. The program is sponsored by the Western Monroe Historical Society and is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Hall lives in Rochester and retired in 1995 as Director of Strasenburgh Planetarium and is a past president of the American Art Pottery Association. Pieces from his collection of American art pottery have been exhibited at the Memorial Art Gallery of the University of Rochester, and at the Arts & Crafts Conference in Asheville, North Carolina. He writes frequently on American art pottery. Hall's collecting passion began with rocks and minerals in elementary school, continued with Depression glass, and today is focused on pottery. His collection occupies every room in his Victorian home.
