Brockport area businesses support library cards

Twenty businesses in Brockport, Clarkson and Sweden joined with the Seymour Library to promote library card registration and renewal during National Library Card Sign-Up Month. Participating businesses will display a sign with the library card logo in their window and offer a discount or giveaway to anyone showing their Monroe County library card during September.

With the cooperation and support of the 20 participating businesses, the library is hoping to increase new library card registrations. Approximately 65 percent of the library's service population of 19,788 residents have library cards. The library would like this to reach 80 percent within the next five years.

Participating businesses are Arigo Orthodontics, Arjuna Florist & Gifts, A Better Cartridge Co., Bittersweet, Brockport Optometry, P.C., Design Frame, Domino's Pizza, Fast Buck Fanny's, Lift Bridge Book Shop, Magic Wands Vacuum, Mythos Café, Northside Express Mart, The Port Bar & Grill, The Red Bird Tea Shoppe, Ryan's Big M Market, Sara's Garden Center, Seaward Candies, Sweden Senior Center and Tod Twichell, DDS.

Getting a library card is easy and only takes a few minutes. Stop by the library with current picture ID showing a current Monroe County address (example: a driver's license). The card is free and will be issued on the spot. For information call 637-1050.
